Frequently Asked Questions:

How far away is the cabin from skiing?

The Cabin is approximately 10 minutes from Windham Mountain and 25-30 minutes from Hunter Mountain. Times will vary based upon road conditions.

Does the Cabin have heat?

Great question! The Cabin is fully insulated and has an oil furnace. There is also a fireplace downstairs and a wood stove in the master bedroom upstairs.  (It’s pretty cozy.)

Does the Cabin have air conditioning?

No.  We do find, however, that due to its elevations and position on the side of a mountain, the Cabin tends to stay about 10-15 degrees cooler in the summer than the most of the rest of the region, and certainly much cooler than NYC.

Do you provide firewood?

We provide our cool-weather guests with firewood to get their stay started.  Additional firewood can be purchased in Windham and/or Durham.

How many people does the cabin sleep?

We book up to nine people at the cabin. There are four bedrooms but only two bathrooms, so the house can’t comfortably hold more than 9.

What’s the bed situation?

We have four queen beds, one of which is a bunk with a twin above it. The bunk is limited to sleepers of 130lbs or less. Our queens beds are new, green-tea-infused memory foam mattresses which are CertiPUR – US Certified for eco-friendly(er) construction.  The twin bed is also Memory foam.

Do you provide linens and towels?

Yes. There are fresh, organic cotton, 300 thread count sheets on the beds and towels for every guest provided.

How is the kitchen stocked?

You’ll find pots and pans for normal cooking, a crock pot, and all the usual spatulas and spoons, etc.

Do you provide pantry items?

We provide spices, cooking oil, sugar and coffee.

Where can I get other supplies on the drive up?

We recommend the Hannaford in Cairo, its the last big store you pass on the way from the thruway, about 20 minutes from the house.  Otherwise, Todaro’s Salumeria on Main Street in Windham has just about everything you could need for a simple meal, plus incredible Italian grocery and deli products.

Do you need to give me (the guest) a key?

No, the house is equipped with a wifi-enabled lock on the front door.
